Graph of the Visible Spectrum

Visible Optical Spectrum
Visible Optical Spectrum Graphic

The picture above shows the optical spectrum in wavelength.
The visible spectrum and color range is shown with a break-out for each color and its wavelength.
The visible spectrum runs between 0.37 to 0.57um, although the Near Inferred is shown as well.

Light produced by LEDs;
Blue: 470nm
Green: 525nm
Orange: 590nm
Red: 630nm

The primary reason for including the spectrum graph was to support the pages relating to LEDs and Sensors.

Standard LED Colors: White, Amber, Blue, Green, Orange, Red. Semiconductor Material vs. LED Color

Note that incandescent lights and fluorescent lights output a different light spectrum.
A light detector may function differently when exposed to incandescent or fluorescent light, which is a cause for concern.
For example an optical fan speed indicator may show one speed under incandescent light but a different speed under a different light source.
Of course there are many cases when the output spectrum of an LED doesn't matter as long as it's visible.

Also refer to Sensor Manufacturers and vendors.

The graph shows light intensity over wavelength for both incandescent & fluorescent lights.
